TerraMap Guided Variable Rate Nutrition with Andy Bason

Looking to understand what's happening in his soils, what he has there and how he can best utilise the inputs

Having already used variable rate P & K applications for about 20 years due to their hugely variable soil types, Andy Bason of Newhouse Farm decided that actually the following inputs should be variable as well.

Andy chose to use TerraMap because he wanted to understand what was happening in his soils, what he has there and how he can best utilise the inputs that are used subsequently.

“We can start to build up a bigger picture of what’s going on with our soil. In fact, greater than that, we can start to build up a picture of what’s going on with our performance of our crops within the farm.”, says Andy Bason. “We can look at performance maps so we can see where fields are performing better in areas than they are in others and just start to get a better understanding of what’s going on, on a field-by-field basis.”

Being a user of the Omnia Hub system, Andy Bason highlights: “The Omnia Hub is a really neat system, it’s really intuitive. All the guys like to use it. It works really well. So that’s a big plus for us. And then, being able to pull in data like the yield data into one central place really, really then starts to make you focus on those areas that need focussing on.”

“So, Omnia helps us with the high fertiliser and general input prices because it gives us the confidence to look at the field performance maps, look at the data, and have the confidence to use those inputs in the right way. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s either using another system or thinking about moving into precision farming. It’s a system that caters for all your precision farming needs.”
